For CN, giving back is not a slogan - it is our way of doing
business. To fuel our actions and those of our community partners,
CN is helping to build safer, stronger and more prosperous
communities.
Every year, CN invests millions of dollars in sustainable
partnerships with not-for-profit organizations that allow our
Company to have a positive impact on the communities within our
North American network. The main pillars for our Corporate Giving
program are carefully selected for their fit and alignment with CN's
corporate vision. Each pillar tells the story of how CN empowers
our charitable partners to make a meaningful difference in the
communities where we operate.
The three pillars of CN's Corporate Giving program are
People,
Safety, and
Environment.
People
CN is proud of our diverse workforce. We prioritize funding that
increases opportunities and accessibility for the myriad of groups
represented by our railroaders. This pillar priorities
organizations that provide support for:
- Youth education in skilled trades and STEM subjects
- Diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives
- Cultural institutions and events
- Emergency disaster relief
- Food insecurity
Safety
Safety is a core value at CN. We strive to promote safety in all
its forms and protect the physical and mental safety of people
across North America. This pillar channels our support for
organizations that promote:
- Health and wellness, especially mental health initiatives,
injury prevention and trauma centres
- Research into major diseases
- First responder training and services
- Research and innovation in safety
- Cultural safety
Environment
Delivering Responsibly is at the heart of how CN is building for
a sustainable future. CN is committed to building a sustainable
future by continuously minimizing our impact on the environment and
providing cleaner, more sustainable transportation services to our
customers. Protecting biodiversity and managing the land in the
various habitats through which our network runs, including national
parks, forests, prairies and wetlands, are important aspects of CN's
corporate culture and are aligned with our community efforts to
protect the environment. Under this pillar, CN supports
organizations that promote:
- Mitigating the impacts from climate change
- Clean water sources, biodiversity and sustainable forest
management
- Land conservation initiatives
- Innovative approaches to fossil fuel reduction,
carbon-neutral programs, and circular economy programs.
